Liverpool equipment spend
Liverpool committed £ 6.5m to its Seaforth terminal in the last quarter of 2008, buying a £ 5.1m ship-to-shore Liebherr gantry and three new Noell straddle carriers from Germany at a cost of £ 1.4m. The gantry crane will have the capability to corner on to the terminals Berth S6, creating a fourth deep sea berth and will increase operational capacity and flexibility.
In a recent interview, David Yang, PSA’s chief executive for the Mediterranean, Middle East and South Asia, said the company had invested over ¢200m ($266m) in Voltri over the past decade and put forward a plan to phase in an additional ¢50m ($66m) in equipment and infrastructure to the port authority in July 2008.
