Long service honoured at Tyne
Thirteen port employees took part in an evening of celebrations at the Port of Tyne headquarters, UK, to honour their combined 360 years of service.
One staff member, Gordon Dodds, has reached an impressive 50 years of service. He started employment with the Port in 1958 as an apprentice electrician, just five days after his 16th birthday.
Mr Dodds says he has seen some massive changes in his time, including the redevelopment of Riverside Quay but one of the major differences is that “nowadays everything is done on a computer.”
