Marseilles sets four-year path
Marseilles Fos has set out its goals through to 2013 in line with sweeping reforms to the French port industry introduced last July.
Under those reforms, container and dry bulk handling at the French port is to be passed to private operators.
The port has also identified five main strategic directions to pursue to 2013: address the challenge of building container traffic at Fos; add to the core oil business by increasing throughput of other energy sources; strengthen the port’s position as a south European hub for dry bulks; establish a Euro-Mediterranean ro-ro hub; and to further develop passenger facilities.
The aims will be supported by investment of E600m ($783m).
