Milford Haven’s solar flare

The solar panels will supply over 5,000 megawatt hours of electricity each year; enough energy to power around 1,000 homes.

The energy produced will be fed back into the UK National Grid with the profits generated – after covering installation costs of around £5m – invested back into activities at the Port Trust.

Consent for the project was based on minimal environmental impact and the enhancement of the environment around the site.

Project leader Tim James said: “In 25 years time, when the project reaches the end of its consent, every single part of this site can be removed by simply reversing the process. The fields can be restored to their former state and every component recycled. That is central to the environmental credibility of this project.”
