A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was discovered at a port terminal in Wales.

Port of Barry

South Wales Police officers were called to Barry Intermodal Terminal, managed by Associated British Ports (ABP), after the deceased man was found. No official identification has been made. The site remains closed, ABP told Port Strategy.

Police enquiries are on-going in the area and a cordon remains in place while investigations continue, said South Wales Police on Facebook.

Senior investigating officer, detective chief inspector Mark O’Shea, major crime investigations team, said: “A murder investigation has been instigated and a major incident room has been set up.

“The investigation is very much in its early stages, however, I am appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

An ABP spokesperson told Port Strategy: “ABP continues to assist South Wales Police with their enquiries and the site remains closed as their investigation continues.”
