Piraeus crippled by ongoing strikes

The continuation of the Seamen’s Union action involves a further two day stoppage that began at 06:00 (local time) on 29 January.

This was on top of the first 48-hour strike which began on 27 January. Towage and Salvage Crew Union of Piraeus also staged a four-hour on 29 January and 30 January.

During all periods of strike action, vessels will not be able to berth, shift or sail from the affected ports.

The continued action has been called by the unions in response to the Government’s planned changes to labour and insurance rights, pensions and retirement ages.
