Piraeus makes a profit
Turnover at the Greek port of Piraeus was up 32% in the first six months of 2009, resulting in a small net profit for the port authority.
This compares with a loss of ¢4.3m ($6.3m) loss in the same period in 2008, when the port was hit by protest strikes over privatisation.
Container terminal concessionaire, Cosco Pacific, will assume terminal management duties as from October.
