Port skills training programme launches
A new training programme to boost the skills of port professionals to help drive the energy and digital transformation has launched.
The NeXTraIn.PortS project, ‘Empower Next Port Professionals with Innovative Skills through XR Immersive Training Programs’ is led by the Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Settentrionale which includes Fundación Valenciaport. Part of the Erasmus+ programme, it is co-financed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency.
The project will support those responsible for training, as well as assist in the structuring of the network model between the ports of Valencia, Rotterdam, Livorno, Venice and Piraeus.
NeXTraIn.Ports will focus on three areas, namely port and logistics management, technical planning and management of cargo and passenger handling, and operational logistics-port handling.
It will determine training programmes using methodologies such as extended reality as well as establishing the criteria for certifying professional competencies, organising training for port workers and creating a policy document for decision makers.
At the end of the project a Profiles Manual will be available along with training pathways and an observatory of port professional profiles.
Fundación Valenciaport will be responsible for mapping the job profiles of the logistics-port sector in relation to the energy and digital transition.
