Rotterdam hails test phase of Connector website
The Port of Rotterdam has officially rounded off the test phase of its new website, the Rotterdam Port Connector.
It went live six months ago and since then over 25,000 individuals, employed by a range of firms, have joined the network.
“For us the logical choice was to make a website that is anonymous, free of charge and secure,” said Marjolein Warburg, Rotterdam Port Promotion Council (RPPC) managing director.
He continued: “It creates new opportunities for business all over the world. We not only have visitors from Germany, France and the USA. But also from China, Africa and India.”
The website was set up to bring potential international clients in touch with Rotterdam’s pot business community.
There has been almost 100 inquires so far that have generated business, from the website which was kick-started by the RPPC.
“Up till now, we mainly focused on promotional trips at RPPC, and had limited opportunities to include such far-flung destinations in our programme,” Mr Warburg added.
“While we will never underestimate the value of meeting each other face-to-face, we have succeeded in making the world a bit smaller with the tools offered via the Rotterdam Port Connector.”
Rotterdam Port Connector provides an answer for companies with specific logistics requirements in the area of the transport, storage or handling of cargo or a particular service.
‘RPPC has been bringing parties together for over 80 years, and now we have taken it a step further – online.,” said Mr Warburg.
He concluded: “This is a wonderful development, since no other port has such a platform. This is a true Rotterdam innovation, one that the rest of the world can benefit from.”
