Thames power trial for Sainsburys supplies
UK supermarket Sainbury’ s has hailed a success a trial using the London artery of the River Thames to supply its daily product.
The Port of London Authority (PLA) and Sainbury’s worked together to move goods between the supermarket’s distribution centre and a west London store by barge earlier this year. If rolled out to all stores in the same area, the PLA estimates that 350,000 road kilometres could be saved annually.
