Vado Ligure residents reject container terminal
The new container terminal development at the Italian port of Vado Ligure appears to now be in doubt.
It has been opposed by environmentalists from the start and, following a recent public consultation, 60% of those attending rejected the plans put forward by APM Terminals.
It is now up to the municipality to make a final decision.
APM Terminals planned invest ¢150m ($205m) in the new container terminal, which was to handle 720,000 teu by 2010.
