Valencia now largest Mediterranean box port

Comparative figures show that only Rotterdam (10.8m teu), Hamburg (9.7m teu), Antwerp (8.6m teu) and Bremerhaven (5.5m teu) handled more box traffic last year, when Valencia reported 3.6m teu.

Significantly, it is now the leading container port in the Mediterranean, having edged past the Italian transhipment port of Gioia Tauro.
