A contractor’s error in disposing of waste created as part of excavation work in the harbour and not in designated areas at sea brought dredging to a standstill last month, with work only permitted to resume on February 28.

Furthermore, according to Israel Ports Co (IPC), the Haifa municipality had requested building permit fees that IPC maintain were in excess of reasonable fees.

Fighting back, the IPC appealed and the courts ruled that the authority had met the conditions for the building permit and that the muncipality had to issue the permit, which it did on March 27th.

The court ruled that the monetary issue could be discussed at a later date.
