Chinese land Saudi contract

ChinasHarbour Contracting Engineering Company in partnership with localcompany the Rafid Group has been awarded a $586.7m contract toundertake infrastructure work at Saudi Arabias proposed Ras Al-Zourport. To be completed by 2010 this development will serve localfertiliser and aluminium smelting complexes.

The expansion is being driven by burgeoning demand, with the port handling 498,000 containers in 2007, effectively breaching its engineered capacity.
