DP World now third largest operator
DP World is now the worlds third-largest port operator, according to a report from Drewry Shipping Consultants.
Last year, it handled 31.5m teu, passing APM Terminals whose throughput dropped to 31.1m teu.
By opening more terminals and registering a smaller decline than its rivals, DP World leapfrogged into third place.
It currently has 50 operational terminals and is developing a further 11 across 31 countries. Last year it opened new operations in Algeria, Senegal and Vietnam.
