German expertise in Iran
The Iranian roads minister has said that a German company has won a tender to develop the country’s Shahid Rajaee Port.
That is according to a report by the Mehr News Agency which spoke with the Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Abbas Mohammad Saeidnejad.
He told Mehr that a contract had been signed for a €104m investment and that a Line of Credit (LC) has been opened meaning that necessary equipment will be supplied in the coming month.
Mr Saeidnejad said that a total of €150m has been allocated to finance the developmental project in the southern Iranian port, with PMO undertaking the construction sections while joint domestic but foreign investors will supply equipment and implement the project.
He added that the development of the Shahid Rajaee and Cahbahar ports is a top priority for PMO. This is because despite the 210 million tonnes of capacity available in Iranian ports, only 140 million tonnes is operational at the moment.
