JordanPorts Corporation has announced a three-year, $69m development planinvolving upgrades to infrastructure, construction work, quayrehabilitation and improvements to dock services. In 2007, Jordansports handled 17.8m tonnes, a 4% improvement over the previous year.

The expansion is being driven by burgeoning demand, with the port handling 498,000 containers in 2007, effectively breaching its engineered capacity.
