KGL rolls out ports fund

KGL Investment Company has established a $500m fund to finance port projects in emerging markets.

The Kuwaiti-based company claims to already have half the fund in place and says that the entire amount will be available as from the summer. A return on investment over a five-year period of 30% per annum is mooted.

Seeking projects in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America, the company is targeting areas based on strong GDP growth and on a burgeoning demand for logistics.

At present, concrete projects are under consideration in Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, Algeria, Egypt, Mozambique, Thailand, Kenya, Gabon, China, the Philippines and India.

To date, KGL investment Company has invested $104m in projects in Egypt, Jordan, Singapore and Africa.
