Port Rashid to close?

Part of Dubais Port Rashid may be forced to close at the end of next year because of its inability to accommodate the largest containerships currently operating in the Gulf.

Many shipping companies have already moved to Jebel Ali, including Evergreen and Cosco, which quit the port in March.

Operator DP World has confirmed that it intends to eventually stop cargo handling at the port, but capacity constraints at Jebel Ali have delayed that goal.

When new capacity at Jebel Ali finally comes on stream, Port Rashid will become redundant.
