Hutchison Port Holdings is leading a consortium of investors which includes the government of Oman and C Steinweg Handelsveem of the Netherlands, in building a 10-berth container terminal at Sohar in Oman.
Chairman Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem said: “The only valid bid for P&O is from DP World.
Operations are scheduled to commence at Oman International Container Terminal in the second quarter of 2006 where there will initially be 520m of berthing line with alongside draught of 60m.
However, the intention is to lengthen this to 1,490 metres by the end of 2007, including the construction of some berths with alongside draught of 18 metres.
