FINAL CHILEAN TERMINAL CONCESSION
The multipurpose terminal at the Chilean port of Talcohuano, the last one in the country to be operated by the state, is to be offered as a concession to the private sector this year. It is hoped that the arrival of a private company will enable sufficient investment to be made for the port to become more competitive.
GPA is to add three additional interchange lanes at Garden City Terminal container Gates 3 and 4, increase operating personnel, assemble additional rubber-tyred gantry cranes and is making use of 30 additional acres of container storage that were recently put into operation at the Garden City Terminal. Additionally, RAM is currently manufacturing four separating twinlift spreaders for the same terminal.
