Manta Port dogged by delays

Manta PortAuthority and the directors of container terminal concessionaire TIDE have beenunable to commence work on the new container handling facility, despite thefact this should have started in May.

TIDE, a subsidiary of HPH, recently asked for changes in 42 of the 116 clauses that constitute its concession contract.

One of these concerns the non-return of assets to the state when the concession expires after 30 years, while another suggests that quay strengthening work should be viewed as infrastructure work and therefore be paid for by the Port Authority.
