Oakland secures FEMA funding

The Californian facility said that it would use the funding to help staff a round-the-clock Security Operations Center and strengthen a security surveillance system.

The grants are part of the US government’s Port Security Grant Program, which supports the construction, sustainment and delivery of core capabilities which are vital to achieving an objective of a secure and resilient country.

Over the last two years, the Port of Oakland has been given more than $3m in federal grants for maritime security.
