Peru ports

DP World had proposed an investment of $1.3bn in developing Callao’s Muelle Norte at the facility, where it already has a terminal. However, questions have been asked about the effective monopoly such a move would create over Peru’s principal port. The meeting took place as an infrastructure industry body, AFIN, urged the government to step up the public works programme in a bid to stave of the worse of the financial crisis.

AFIN urged the concessioning of ports in Paita, San Martin and Pucallpa during the first, second and third trimesters respectively of this year.
