Savannah growth
The Port of Savannah handled 173,415TEU in the month of April 2006, a 12.7 per cent increase over the same period last year.
During the first ten months of fiscal year 2006, the GPA handled 1,688,719TEU, a 15.4 per cent increase over the same period last year.
The latest in a series of measures taken by the GPA to accommodate this positive growth is the assembly of two more RTGs which follows on from the recent acquisition of eight RTGs and seven toplifts, as well as the opening of the initial phase of Container Berth 8.
A further 1100m of quay line will become operational in July and 30 acres of paved area in the first quarter of 2007.
