Sepitiba to expand to hub status
CSN is to invest $17m in the container terminal it operates at the Brazilian port of Sepetiba. Expansion of the terminal will allow it to function as a distribution hub for both cabotage and deep sea services.
The operator plans to order two super post-panamax gantry cranes and two rubber-tyred gantry cranes to boost capacity from 280,000 teu to 400,000 teu. Currently, 48% of all container movements at the terminal are linked to transhipped boxes.
