Uruguay is seeking international cooperation to enable the Martí n Garcí a Channel, which gives access to the port of Nueva Palmira, to be maintained at a depth of 32 feet. It also wants dredging to commence on the Uruguay river as far as Fray Bentos to achieve a minimum 26 feet draught.
