Venezuela to build new deepsea port

The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority (PRPA) is in the throes of swapping maritime land known as the Pier 98 Annex to the SYSCO Corporation, a domestic food distribution company.

Venezuela’s Infrastructure Ministry (Minfra) has called for bids for a contract to undertake a feasibility study for a $1.2bn deepwater port on the Araya peninsula in the northeast Sucre state. The five-month study, which will cost in the order of $678,000, will commence this month, reporting back in January 2005 with regard to the best location and overall costs.
