Auckland overcomes congestion blight

Removal of a large backlog of empty containers and continued personnel recruitment have significantly improved congestion at the Ports of Auckland.

With the port initially struggling to deal with the influx of volume associated with it assuming the role of Maersk Line’s northern hub port, truck queues had reached up to five hours.

These are now consistently running at under half an hour and the port is also liaising with the Road Transport Association (RTA) to implement a truck allocation system.
