Cosco moots Australasian port investment

Cosco Group global chairperson and chief executive Captain Wei Jiafu has signalled his organisation may be weighing up investment in the Australasian port sector.

“If we were looking to expand our port network we would want a port in Australia or New Zealand,” he said.

Captain Jiafu’s comments came in light of the recently-signed free trade agreement between China and New Zealand, which he said would increase trade between the countries.
