Port body to service north-east

A dedicated bulk ports corporation is to be set up in Queensland with another body set to administer the far norths smaller community ports.

Following the restructuring of Ports Corporation Queensland, the new bodies will be called the North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation and the Far North Ports Corporation.

The bulk body will take control of the port of Weipa and the state’s coal ports, including Abbot Point and Hay Point. The Far North organisation will be based in Bowen.
