A new name for Hapag-Lloyd’s SAAM Terminals
SAAM Terminals has rebranded as Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America S.A., marking the company’s integration into Hapag-Lloyd’s expanding global terminal network.
The rebrand, effective 1 August 2025, follows the launch of Hanseatic Global Terminals’ first regional headquarters in Santiago, Chile. The move is part of a broader strategy to unify terminal operations under one global identity and strengthen its port network across North and South America.
“I’m proud to see the launch of Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America. It marks a significant step in the realisation of our Strategy 2030 and our aspiration to serve our customers as a global terminal operator,” said Dheeraj Bhatia, CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals.
Integrated logistics
Founded in 2024, Hanseatic Global Terminals is an independent entity within the Hapag-Lloyd Group, focusing on terminals and infrastructure.
The creation of Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America S.A. also includes the incorporation of two new business units under its Inland Services division: Hanseatic Global Terminals Chile Logistics S.A. and Hanseatic Global Terminals Chile Extraportuarios S.A.
These inland services units, along with the port subsidiaries, will provide fully integrated port and logistics solutions to enhance competitiveness in South America’s trade sector.
According to Mauricio Carrasco, CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America, the rebrand signals a strategic transformation.
He said that the company remains committed to delivering high quality service – now strengthened with access to a global network.
The bigger picture reflects Hanseatic’s ambition to grow from 21 to around 30 terminals worldwide by 2030, reinforcing its position as a global leader in terminal operations and ensuring consistent service standards across its international port network.
