BNCT deploys AI safety platform
CyberLogitec has partnered with BNCT to deploy an AI-driven port safety system at Busan New Port Terminal 5, targeting collision risks and strengthening real-time safety management.
The agreement covers the implementation of a monitoring and control platform designed to support safer terminal operations by identifying hazards before incidents occur.
A CyberLogitec representative said the initiative marks “a shift from reactive safety management toward a data-driven, predictive operating model,” adding that the company will continue expanding AI and digital twin-enabled smart port solutions that enhance safety and efficiency worldwide.
Industry shift
The project reflects a broader industry shift toward proactive, data-led safety approaches as ports become larger, more automated and operationally complex.
BNCT’s decision follows a review of alternatives to traditional, incident-driven practices, prompted by recent serious accidents in Korea and internationally.
The port safety system integrates AI-based video analytics, high-precision positioning and digital twin capabilities to provide real-time situational awareness across the terminal.
Data from mobile equipment, workers and traffic flows is consolidated into a unified monitoring environment, enabling early detection of potential hazards and immediate alerts via control room dashboards and on-board terminals.
Using Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning, the platform tracks mobile equipment with centimetre-level accuracy, while deep learning-enabled AI CCTV continuously analyses operational scenes to assess risk levels.
Automated warnings are delivered to operators through vehicle-mounted terminals when hazards are identified. The deployment will include RTK devices on 70 mobile assets and 28 AI-enabled CCTV cameras across 14 STS cranes.
The system is scheduled to enter full operation in August 2026, supporting BNCT’s goal of round-the-clock, accident-free terminal operations.
