Huisman secures second ASC order
Huisman has signed a second contract with Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) for the delivery of 12 additional automated stacking cranes (ASC), reinforcing its role in the continued automation of one of Europe’s leading container terminals.
The new order follows the earlier delivery of six ASCs, marking a significant expansion of the partnership between the two companies.
“ECT’s decision to award Huisman a second series of ASCs underscores the strong trust built through our close cooperation over the past year,” said Mike van Wingerden, business line manager, Port Equipment at Huisman.
“ECT’s high standards for reliability and performance align seamlessly with our own and we look forward to delivering another series of cranes that fully meets those expectations.”
Of the initial series, three cranes are already operational at the ECT Delta Terminal, while the remaining three are currently in the commissioning and testing phase and are expected to enter operation later this month.
The ASCs are designed to support fully automated container handling and buffering, enabling reliable, round-the-clock operations, whilst full integration with the terminal operating system will allow continuous automated operation without interruption.
Production of the new cranes will again be distributed across Huisman’s European facilities. Welding and pre-assembly will be carried out in the Czech Republic, with final assembly at Huisman’s facility in Schiedam, the Netherlands. Commissioning and testing will take place at the ECT Delta Terminal on the Maasvlakte.
The Huisman ASCs feature a safe working load under spreader of 41 tonnes, stacking heights of 1:5 or 1:6, up to 11 container stack width, and a design life exceeding four million handling cycles.
