IRS completes first port security training
Indian Register of Shipping has completed its first ever port security training programme.
IRClass Academy, IRS’s training arm, concluded the Port Facility Security Internal Auditor and Port Facility Security Officers training at the Rashtriya Raksha University, School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies in Ahmedabad.
“IRClass Academy is committed to advancing the knowledge and skills of maritime professionals, ensuring the highest standards of security and operational efficiency in the industry,” said Amit Bhatnagar, head of IRClass Academy.
“This training programme marks a significant milestone in IRClass Academy’s ongoing efforts to support the maritime sector with innovative and relevant training solutions.”
The training programme features unique components designed to address security challenges faced by ports today, such as sessions on cyber security and narcotics identification and control.
The opening ceremony to inaugurate the programme was attended by Emeritus Resource Faculty and former director general of the Indian Coast Guard, Dr Prabhakaran Paleri and Dr Heena Goswami, a professor from Gujarat National Law University and an expert in narcotics and forensics.
Participants from ports and other maritime stakeholders attended the training, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience.
