Miami launches cloud terminal systems

The cloud-based deployment integrates advanced terminal operating system capabilities, designed to enhance operational efficiency, scalability and reliability, allowing POMTOC to manage higher cargo volumes and streamline vessel, yard and gate operations.

“This implementation represents an important step in POMTOC’s modernisation strategy and reflects how strategic technology investments can strengthen terminal operations,” said Subbu Bhat, vice president of engineering and interim president at Tideworks.

“Together, we’ve delivered a modern, secure platform that enhances performance and extends POMTOC’s role as a key gateway for South Florida.”

Mainsail 10 and Spinnaker provide real-time visibility for equipment dispatchers, configurable workflows, and enhanced command tools for mobile users. Hosted on Amazon Web Services through a cloud subscription model, the deployment promises to reduce on-site infrastructure requirements while strengthening data security and system reliability.

The deployment complements Tideworks’ existing solutions at POMTOC, including GateVision, the gate operating system, and EDI Porter, which manages EDI translation and program workflows.

“This go-live represents a significant milestone in our ongoing terminal modernisation strategy,” said Gerard van den Heuvel, chief executive of POMTOC.

Looking ahead, POMTOC plans to implement Tideworks’ Traffic Control system to further optimise container handling, reduce unproductive moves and improve yard efficiency.
