Tecon Suape deploys new scanner

The terminal, operated by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), has installed a Linev DTP 7500LVX scanner as part of its ongoing investment programme aimed at improving service quality, compliance and cargo handling performance.

The new equipment is expected to streamline inspection processes and support faster cargo movement for shipping lines, cargo owners and logistics operators. By reducing inspection bottlenecks, the scanner will also help improve the coordination of quay cranes and terminal tractors, minimising equipment idle time and maintaining a steady flow of containers through the terminal.

“The new scanner allows us to inspect cargo more efficiently while meeting all compliance requirements,” said Thomas Jefferson de Lima, TSSA chief executive.

“It forms part of our continuous investment program to provide safe, reliable and high-quality services for our customers.”

Located close to the berth and fully integrated into existing terminal workflows, the scanner is designed to improve yard traffic flow and reduce unnecessary truck movements. Tecon Suape estimates the technology will cut truck cycle times and increase scanning productivity by up to 40%.

The Linev DTP 7500LVX uses high-energy X-ray technology to generate detailed images of container contents without the need for physical inspection. The system can identify irregularities in cargo density and structure, enabling operators to conduct faster screening and more targeted inspections. By highlighting differences in materials, the technology assists in detecting undeclared or suspicious cargo while helping to minimise delays in container clearance.
