VIDEO: Drone gives birds-eye view of LA

The Port of Los Angeles has released two innovative drone videos that offer a unique, high-tech view of its extensive cargo operations and the iconic LA Waterfront.

Created using first-person point of view technology, the videos feature a Go-Pro-equipped drone navigating through tight spaces, providing sweeping views of the port from angles that traditional aerial cameras can not reach.

“These videos provide soaring views, and a new perspective of the vibrancy and energy of the Port of Los Angeles,” said Port of Los Angeles communications director Phillip Sanfield.

“They tell the visual story of just how much transformational change and investment have gone into both our operations and the LA Waterfront.”

The first video offers an aerial tour of the LA Waterfront’s historic and cultural landmarks, locations which are part of the port’s US$500 million investment aimed at enhancing public access and revitalising the area over the last decade.

The second video dives into the port’s bustling cargo operations, capturing behind-the-scenes action at the terminals. It includes footage of a port pilot boarding a vessel, containers being moved, rail and truck operations and cutting-edge zero-emission technologies in action.

The videos were produced in partnership with Sky Candy Studios, a company specialising in drone videography.
