Hamburg launches global ports conference

Organised by Hamburg Messe und Congress, the all about ports conference and exhibition will take place on 2–3 September 2026, bringing together industry leaders to examine how ports are evolving to support more resilient and efficient global supply chains.

“Ports worldwide are facing far-reaching transformation challenges,” said Claus Ulrich Selbach, vice president exhibitions energy and maritime at Hamburg Messe und Congress.

The event will focus on major trends reshaping port operations, including digitalisation, artificial intelligence, automation, cybersecurity and sustainable energy systems. Organisers say it will provide a platform for practical solutions addressing the growing demands placed on ports as critical nodes in global logistics networks.

Worldwide, ports are increasing investments in infrastructure upgrades, automated cargo-handling systems and digital control technologies. At the same time, issues such as decarbonisation, intermodal logistics corridors and protection of critical infrastructure are becoming more prominent.

These developments are particularly visible in India, one of the fastest-growing markets for port infrastructure. The country is expanding its maritime and logistics capabilities through major initiatives including Sagarmala, Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision.

The new conference aims to bring together port authorities, terminal operators, shipping companies, logistics providers, policymakers and technology developers to discuss how these trends are shaping the future of maritime infrastructure.
