Temporary works support Caribbean port

Working alongside Aecon Group, the company supplied formwork and falsework systems to support construction of reinforced concrete elements, including retaining walls built in a demanding coastal environment.

The project is a nationally significant development, replacing outdated port facilities at Campden Park and Kingstown with a new 6.5-hectare terminal constructed on reclaimed land. The scheme includes a 380-metre sheet pile quay wall, additional retaining walls, storage yards and multiple terminal buildings.

Construction in a live marine setting presented considerable challenges. Variable tides, exposure to harsh weather and limited working space required a solution capable of maintaining stability, precision and efficiency throughout the build programme.

To meet these demands, Altrad RMDK designed a tailored system combining superslim soldiers and aluminium beams. The modular superslim soldiers provided high load capacity and flexibility, enabling rapid installation and adjustment, while aluminium beams reduced manual handling and supported accurate concrete placement.
