DP World Southampton to halve NOx emissions

DP World (DPW) Southampton has received 12 hybrid straddle carriers from Kalmar as part of its goal to reduce its Nitrogen Oxide emissions by more than 50% by 2020 and make supply chains more sustainable.

The straddle carriers use 20% less fuel than standard machines and are designed to be the most efficient on the market. The emissions-cutting equipment will be used in operations at the Port of Southampton going forward to help DPW reduce its carbon footprint.

DP World Southampton has already placed an order for another 12 hybrid machines which will be delivered by the end of 2019. This will mean that more than a quarter of the company’s operational fleet will be hybrids.
