Electric RTGs for Koper dock
The operator of Slovenia’s only port has placed an order for five electric RTGs from Konecranes in order to make operations more efficient.
Luka Koper’s technical manager, Edvin Boskin, said that the port’s strategy is dock-focused, with the port remaining a multipurpose one with a market position that it will steadily strengthen while lowering its environmental impact on its neighbourhood.
He added that Luka Koper’s Konecranes collaboration will help it “achieve its vision of becoming a leading port operator and global logistics solution provider for Central and Eastern Europe’s nations.”
Green benefits
The RTGs will come with cable reels featuring an auto plug-in system, with the cranes’ electric operation offering the environmental benefits of low noise, ambient lighting (with LED lights) and regenerative power feedback to the local grid.
Productivity-boosting driver-assistance features also set to be offered by the products are auto-positioning, stack collision prevention, auto-steering and auto-TOS reporting.
Konecranes said that the order from Luka Koper, or Port of Koper, was booked in the second quarter of this year and the contract was signed in June.
Beginning in beginning in 2004, Luker Koper acquired more than 20 Konecranes RTGs and have had a decade and a half of robust co-operation.
