Konecranes expands its reach with a rush of green equipment orders

Two eco-efficient Konecranes Gottwald Model 5 Mobile Harbour Cranes will be delivered to the UK Port of Dover’s new cargo facilities as part of the Dover Western Docks Revival (DWDR) development.

“We have opted once more for versatile cranes to help us meet the future demands of the business and deliver a rapid turnaround for a new generation Port of Dover customers,” said Dave Herrod, DWDR programme director at the Port of Dover.

Emissions reduction

The diesel-electric Model 5 Mobile Harbour Cranes will handle mainly containers and palletised fruit at Port of Dover’s new multi-purpose refrigerated cargo terminal, which is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2019.

Because they will operate with hybrid drive technology they will maximise fuel economy, reduce exhaust emissions and help the port create a quieter operating environment.

Konecranes has also won a repeat order from Italy’s Terminal San Giorgio S.r.L. (TSG) for a Konecranes Gottwald Model 7 Mobile Harbour Crane.

The mobile harbour crane will handle containers, general cargo and project cargo in the multi-purpose terminal. It will be prepared to use power from the port’s grid in the future for more eco-efficient operation. This will reduce the crane’s energy consumption and eliminate exhaust emissions locally.

This diesel-electric crane will be TSG’s second Model 7 mobile harbour crane.

Konecranes has also secured delivery of a SMV 4531 TC5 reach stacker to Shanxi Dingyan Coal in Linfen, Shanxi, China, which will be used to handle railway containers.

It is equipped with electronic machine control monitoring and diagnostic system is equipped with a 7-inch colour touch screen display, to serve as a high-quality Human Machine Interface for the driver. Furthermore, LED lights are fitted on the reach stacker to optimise efficiency and safety.

As part of its strategy to strengthen Konecranes lift truck’s presence in Asia, four new distributor agreements have been signed which are expected to make a strong addition to the Konecranes network throughout the region.

The signed distributors are Vietnamese-based MIPEC Technologies Equipment Joint Stock Company, Cambodian TIQE Cambodia Equipment CO. LTD, Indonesian PT Berca Mandiri Perkasa, and General Machinery Technology from Myanmar.
