Liebherr launches new Pulser series

Launched at TOC Europe in Rotterdam this week, the first model type, LRS 545, is designed for responsive operation. It features a powerful but economical 4-cylinder 230 kW diesel engine to comply with the latest EU Stage IV/EPA Tier 4 final emission standards. There’s also the option for a hybrid drive. The maintenance-free Pactronic hybrid power booster allows for an additional 110 kW without fuel consumption or emissions.

“The Pulser reachstacker series is the new cargo handling partner for ports and terminals,” said Matthias Mungenast, sales director, Liebherr mobile harbour cranes and reachstackers. “Its wedge-shaped design provides the desired agility for smooth container operation.

The machine stacks five containers high in the first row and is capable of handling 45 tonnes in the first and 31 tonnes in the second row.

Liebherr says the new reachstacker’s design has been based on the latest technology to maximise driver’s comfort, performance and eco-friendliness. The LRS 545 features an ergonomic cabin to reduce fatigue, can feature a steering wheel or an additional steer-by-wire control.

“Visibility, driveability and comfort, that’s what drivers can expect from our new Pulser series. This allows for high performance in a relaxed manner,” Mr Mungenast added.

In addition, the drive mechanism of the new machine is characterised by a hydrostatic transmission, which the company says allows for stepless speed control with optimised diesel revolutions per minute, which means operators benefit from reduced fuel consumption.

Launched 11 years after Liebherr’s first reachstacker, the Pulser series will be further expanded in the long run.
