Liebherr sells first two CBG 360 units

The units, have been sold to Russian foodstuff and ingredient producer ASTON, constituting the company’s tenth Liebherr crane order in 15 months.

Many years of experience from the operation of the CBG series have been put into the development of the new CBG 360. The ordered cranes are designed for high speed bulk handling and will be installed on 10 m eccentric platforms in order to increase the maximum outreach up to 36 m.

Liebherr’s floating crane segment’s latest four-rope grab crane development will be installed on a 45,000 dwt converted handymax bulk carrier with a 185 metres length and a 30.5 metres breadth. After it is retrofitted, the vessel will be used as a transhipment solution for grain handling in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The ordered units are designed for high-speed bulk handling, and, in order to boost the maximum outreach to 36 metres, they will be installed on 10 metres eccentric platforms.

According to Liebherr, the CBG 360’s maximum lifting capacity is 36 tonnes, with bigger and additionally-strengthened pulleys ensuring an increased service life for the ropes and a reduction in abrasion, while the winches are designed for continuous operation.

The model also comes with a customised extended cabin and Liebherr’s integrated control system Litronic, which automatically monitors the crane’s heel and trim and replies with the right emergency programme in critical instances, meaning that the crane can be operated in both sheltered waters and open seas.

The CBG 360 is CE-certified, and thus can operate in every nation in Europe, while also being equipped with new additional maintenance platforms on the slewing column and boom and a dustproof machine house that contains the crane’s most important hydraulic and mechanical components.
