Log Handler goes further with less fuel
Ports could reduce their environmental impact with Liebherr’s new LRS Log Handler with a hybrid drive system to enable a temporary increase in performance without additional fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
The Liebherr Pactronic hybrid drive system, fitted as standard in the Log Handler, saves fuel through complete utilisation of its regenerative energy and surplus power, offering ports sustainable operations with high efficiency and less emissions.
“With Pactronic, Liebherr smooths the path towards goods handling with high efficiency and low emissions,” said the company.
The timber-handling machine has a grapple capacity of 8.2m2 and an “unprecedented” load curve, added the company. The working area of the machine is characterised by a stacking height and an outreach of over 8m.
Like all Liebherr-Reachstackers, the Log Handler is equipped with a stepless, hydrostatic drive. It combines the advantages of the LRS series for container handling, with a wide range of modifications specially designed for timber handling.
Currently in a testing phase with multiple customers, the Log Handler will be shown for the first time at construction fair Bauma 2019, in Munich. Several test devices have already demonstrated their capabilities to customers, Liebherr stated.
