Making oil spill recovery easier
Cleaning up oil spills with just one vessel could be easier, faster and more cost-effective, says Denmark-based DESMI, thanks to its new oil spill recovery product.
The latest addition to the company’s portfolio of oil spill recovery solutions is RO-Vane, which combines a DESMI heavy duty, rubber SpeedSweep boom and RO-Skim skimmer.
Deployed behind the recovery boom, RO-Vane helps to keep the shape of the sweep, while the RO-Skim skimmer located at the apex removes the contained oil from the apex. At the same time, the SpeedSweep boom with its multiple permeable barriers boosts the speed at which oil can be recovered from the industry standard of 0.7 knots to as much as 3 knots.
Designed to replace the functions of a second vessel, DESMI says the aquatic device is “a smart choice”.
