New app plans green transport route

The app works on a geodata-driven map system and allows users to check the restrictions in place for vehicles liable to cause emission or noise-related pollution in all designated Green-Zones throughout Germany, Austria, Denmark and France.

On the Green-Zones app website, developers Green-Zones GmbH and GEMB mbH, state: “As public authorities of a nation offer information about such themes not centrally and, in our opinion, only insufficiently in Europe, we give a free of charge information on our info portals.”

Countries taking part in the Green-Zones scheme currently provide information about dust and nitrogen oxides in the in the environment and the growing traffic restrictions in European countries as a result of the Green-Zones, through individual web portals.

Those affected by the restrictions, such as freight and haulage operators working with shipping companies, can check the status of each environmental zone in real time and in four languages as well as checking for potential delays and fines.

The app offers detailed information about all European badges or vignettes on sale and which types of vehicles are associated with them depending on their Euro norm and their registration date.

The environmental zones are depicted in the form of an interactive image equipped with a zoom option and the app stores data from local authorities which alerts users to possible restrictions for days on which they intend to travel.

Germany-headquartered Green-Zones GmbH and GEMB mbH provide information and advice on trade, climate and environmental issues and GEMB mbH specifically deals with obligatory and voluntary emissions trading.

The app was trialled at the transport logistic Munich 2017 trade fair.
