Order book boost for DEME

In France, Société de Dragage International (SDI), together with a consortium of Vinci companies (SBTPC, Sogea Réunion and EMCC) won a contract to deepen the existing western basin of Port Est and its extension for Grand Port Maritime De La Réunion. Materials are to be dredged and transported to a dry reclamation area. The project is due to begin in June 2015.

A second project on La Réunion Island involves the dredging and rock laying works for the Nouvelle Route du Littoral. The work has been awarded to SDI as part of a joint venture with GTOI, SBTPC and VCT. The joint venture will prepare and lay foundation works for a dike offshore the existing Route du Littoral.

Elsewhere in Europe, DEME received a five-year contract for the maintenance dredging on the River Scheldt between Flushing and Antwerp, and a two-year contract for the River Weser to maintain the accessibility of the ports of Bremerhaven and those along a 90km stretch of the river.

In India, DEME’s subsidiary, International Seaport Dredging (ISD), won two contracts at Kakinada seaport and Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Pvt Ltd. In Kakinada, ISD will carry out the second phase of reclamation works for the seaport – the first phase was already carried out by DEME back in 2011. In Mumbai, ISD will carry out dredging and reclamation works for the development of the fourth container terminal in the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP).

Meanwhile Nigeria, DEME signed a contract with South Energyx Development FZE for the development of the remaining phases of the EKO Atlantic City project in Lagos. Also in Nigeria, Nigerian ports Authority has awarded a 10-year towage license to CTOW, of which DEME is a majority shareholder.
