Panasia BWTS approved by USCG
Korean environmental equipment provider, Panasia’s GloEn-Patrol ballast water treatment system (BWTS), has received the United States Coast Guard’s (USCG) Alternate Management System (AMS) approval.
The company’s BWTS, which is suitable for both retro-fit installations and installation on newbuilds, is the third system which uses an ultra violet treatment method to receive AMS approval. The unit employs high intensity, medium pressure ultra violet (MPUV) lamps to destroy living microorganisms present in the liquid being treated.
This UV method doesn’t require biocide chemicals and does not produce any toxic by products or residuals, making it the most environmentally friendly treatment process.
The safe automatic cleaning process requires little maintenance and minimum operating costs.
In addition to AMS approval, Panasia has already obtained ABS, LR, RINA, RD and CR type approvals. DNV, JG (Japanese Government) and BV approvals are currently being processed.
